About AACA
Our Mission
The Alabama Animal Control Association is dedicated to supporting and advancing the work of animal control officers and animal shelter personnel across the state. Purpose
Why Training Matters
Animal control officers protect communities, enforce law, and care for animals at their most vulnerable. Our programs equip professionals with the tools, resources, and best practices needed to serve responsibly and compassionately — raising the standard of animal welfare and public safety throughout Alabama.

Statewide Support
Statewide Support & Networking
AACA members partner with cities, counties, law enforcement, veterinary professionals, and state agencies to strengthen response protocols, align on best practices, and advocate for sound animal welfare policy. The association is the hub where Alabama's animal control professionals connect, share field knowledge, and grow.

Certification
Certification & Continuing Education
Under Alabama Act 2000-615, officers who complete AACA certification may be appointed by their locality to inspect alleged dog and cat cruelty violations. AACA delivers the required curriculum, examination, and recertification — plus ongoing continuing-education sessions throughout the year.
